Our
Inspiration:

Music, through creation and practice was a forum whereby I could express myself without words; in an artistic and universal language. Through music, and music alone, I was able to showcase my human emotion and character - be it pleasure or pain.

Music arouses sentiment, whether it evokes the intended sentiment or not, it powerful shaper of human virtue, character, and emotion. "One's actions can be greatly influenced by music: the calm can be enraged, the enraged can be made calm." - Bower, 375. Musicians possess the ability to profoundly influence an audience. Therefore, as an educator, by using music as a vehicle, I aspire to exercise and showcase one's moral virtues; 1) patience, 2) temperance, and 3) perseverance. To do so, VMA will provide an environment catered to inspiring our student's musical passion and creativity.

Company Meaning -

Meaning of Virtue - One's behaviour showing high moral standards

Meaning of Virtuoso - An individual who possessed extraordinary talent and technical ability; an outstanding musical performer!

Mission

To embolden our students to confidently fulfil their goals whether it be examinations (AMEB) | perform at concerts/competitions | or simply enjoying music.

Vision

An environment catered to growing our student’s musical passion and creativity.

Inspirational Read:

"For while some children do indeed learn musical instruments with the hope someday of becoming professional musicians, these tend to be the exception rather than the rule.

Yet Aristotle in the Politics (1339a 14-26) makes the following provocative statement about music making: "It is not easy to distinguish what power it has, nor for the sake of what one ought to partake of it whether for the sake of play or relaxation or (because) ...it is in some respect directed to virtue and ... is capable of making the character of a certain quality habituating it to be capable of right enjoyment".

I will suggest a much more serious purpose for an education in music making than play or pleasure or even the training of professional musicians. I will argue that an education in an artistic activity such as music performance constitutes in effect a form of moral education, and that as such it and other arts options have very much to do with the real business of life.
